Neostrata Peels

NeoStrata Skin Peels

We are now offering NeoStrata Glycolic skin peels which are carried out in the Laser Dublin Clinic by  Nurse Aideen.  Aideen has trained extensively in the application of these peels and can assess the best level of treatment for your skin type.

Skin peels have been in use for over 60 years and have proven highly effective in therapeutic skincare and dermatology because of their positive impact on a wide variety of skin conditions. However, the latest generation of peels, such as NeoStrata, are gentle, as well as intensely effective, in delivering results.

NeoStrata skin care offers products formulated with Alpha-hydroxyacids (AHAs), Polyhydroxy Acids (PHAs) and Bionic PHAs, which have been clinically proven to improve the visible signs of ageing.

NeoStrata visibly diminishes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, smoothes and softens skin, increases hydration and suppleness and balances irregular skin tones. It can also improve oily or acne prone skin.

Higher strengths can help reduce the appearance of acne scarring and certain pigmentation problems. NeoStrata peels come in a range of strengths: 20%, 35%, 50% and 70%.

NeoStrata professional peels provide stunning results across a range of skin conditions for smoother skin texture.

What is Professional Peeling?

Professional dermal peeling involves the application of a chemical solution to the skin in order to induce a controlled deep exfoliation and rejuvenation of the skin, thus improving the quality and radiance of the skin. This process is carried out by a nurse or trained medical practitioner.

Skin will look brighter and fresher, with a reduction in the appearance of skin issues such as wrinkles, acne and pigment spots.

Who Should Carry Out NeoStrata Treatments?

The NeoStrata range of professional intensive peels is only available in specially selected clinics with fully trained practitioners.  It should never be used by beauty therapists, only by fully qualified nurses or doctors.

NeoStrata is a safe professional dermatological treatment, which can gently but effectively treat:

  1. Fine lines and wrinkles

  2. Pigmentation, sunspots and hyperpigmentation

  3. Matt and dull complexion

  4. Loss of skintone

  5. Acne and acne scarring

  6. Large or open pores

Post Peel Treatment

To get the maximum benefit from your skin peel, NeoStrata have developed special ranges of pre and post-peel products.  These help to condition  your skin and help it to recover and get the maximum benefit afterwards.  The products are specially designed to work with the professional peels and enhance the results.

The pre and post peel collection contains Polyhydroxy Acids Gluconolactone and Lactobionic Acid which are non-irritating, natural humectants that bind water and increase moisturisation. In clinical studies, PHA regimen has been shown to enhance the outcome of skin superficial peels, as well as injectable fillers, botulinum toxin type A, and microdermabrasion. 100% of participants agreed that a skin care regime containing PHAs improved skin radiance, texture, tone and smoothness; and made skin soft, healthy-looking and rejuvenated.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Is Neostrata good for acne and acne scarring?

Research shows that NeoStrata’s AHAs refine and soften the skin and remove dead skin cells while keeping the new skin underneath healthy. AHAs help improve a number of skin conditions, including acne, oily skin, hyperkeratosis and psoriasis. It also helps to improve the appearance of acne scarring.

Q:  Are there side effects?

Most patients can undergo glycolic peeling without any side effects. The treated skin is virtually normal in appearance. Although rare, a patient may experience mild sloughing of skin producing some weeping or scabbing. Some redness is temporary and normal. Any of these side effects may be covered with make-up.

Rarely, and only if scabs are picked, scarring may occur. Areas of hypopigmentation (lighter coloured skin) or hyperpigmentation (darker coloured skin) may result from a peel, but this is very unusual.

Q: After how many peels will I notice an improvement?

Results are visible from the first session.  After 3-5 sessions, wrinkles appear reduced, pigment spots diminished and pores tightened to visibly rejuvenate the skin.

Q: When should you start using NeoStrata peel treatments?

Peels suit everyone (men and women but NOT pregnant women) who want to maintain clear, healthy looking skin.  In younger clients, it is effective on acne and acne scarring.  It is also particularly recommended for treating wrinkles, loss of skin elasticity, dull skin, hyperpigmentation and skin imperfections.

Q: Is the treatment safe?

Neostrata is a superficial, controlled, professional peel used by trained professionals.  It is a deeper peel than you could achieve at home as the chemicals used are more intense.

Q: Is it painful?

Peels are not painful, but you can expect a warm sensation during the acid solution's action on the skin.  The acid solution is removed after a set time and soothing creams and serums are applied.

Q: Will I have any redness or peeling?

Depending on your skin type and the intensity of the peel, you may experience some redness, temporary dryness or superficial peeling/flaking.  These symptoms are normal - they will diminish progressively and should disappear completely within 3 days.

Q: Can I combine peeling with other treatments?

Yes - peeling can be done alone but will also work well in combination with other aesthetic treatments such as fillers or Botox anti-wrinkle treatment.  Your Aesthetic Nurse can recommend the best combination of treatments for your skin type and personal requirements.

Q: Are there any precautions to take before a treatment?

Yes.  Anyone who uses a skin product containing Retinol should NOT use this product within a week of having a NeoStrata treatment.  NeoStrata peels are not recommended for pregnant women.
